Oh my.....

Tim, Liam and I just got home from the Barclay College Christmas Pageant (which was wonderful by the way) and I just had to share a funny Liam moment with you.  So here we are, sitting in the stands of the Barclay gym reliving what it must have been like when Christ was born.  We were all enjoying ourselves (Liam about fell over and died when they brought out the 3 live camels) when the lights go out.  It is silent.  Then, loud as thunder we hear the voice of God speaking to His people.  Liam jumps, surprised at the deep loud voice rattling the place.  As any two year old would, he begins asking over and over and over "What's that?...Mommy who said that?....Did you hear that?"  So, I (very quietly) whisper, it's God talking.  Here comes the good part.  Liam's response.... "Oh my God!  Oh my God!  OHHH MY GOD"  Tim and I are frantically trying to get him to quiet down as all of the people around us are giggling. Of course, I start laughing and Tim is trying not to laugh.  It was priceless and mortifying all at once.  I'm still sitting here trying to figure out where in the world he got that from.  We made it through the rest of the show without too much more excitement (thank goodness).  Just gotta say, I love Christmas time and I am thankful that Christ came to save me.

DIY step stool

Liam is two and a half and (much to my amazement) potty trained.  Liam is also extremely tall for his age, but not quite tall enough to reach the bathroom sink to wash his hands.  As I was scrolling through on Pinterest, I began pinning ideas for a step stool.  I decided I wanted to find a sturdy wooden one that I could customize for the little guy.  Here's the one I found at a thrift store in Wichita for $2.99.

First thing I did was cover it with 3 coats of KILS water based primer to cover up the red.  Next I put on a coat of Glidden's Marshmallow White paint (left over from painting my kitchen cabinets).

After it was completely dry I found some cute scrapbook paper and modge podged them onto the top of the stool.  Side note:  I made my own modge podge using 1 part Elmer's school glue to 1 part water, much cheaper and works just as well!  Here is what the finished project looks like.  Liam loves it and I love not having to lift him up every time he needs to wash up!

After a couple of months of thinking I might enjoy blogging, and lots of "encouragement" to keep my family and friends up to date on our house projects *cough* Kelleigh *cough*, I have jumped on board!  So....August of this year we moved from Round Rock, Texas to our new house on Elm Street, Haviland, Kansas.  You might ask yourself why in the world we would leave the wonderful state of Texas and the convenience of driving approximately 90 seconds to reach the outlet mall.  Well, school is the ultimate answer.  My husband Tim is finishing a degree in Bible Theology here at Barclay College (whose students represent about 300 of the 800 people living in Haviland).  I said it was a small town right?  Upon deciding it was the best possible time in our lives to make the move (our little guy Liam is 2 so no school changing issues), we started the hunt for the perfect place to live.  We decided it would be best for us to find a cute house or apartment to rent in town, until we found out that wasn't going to happen.  After some phone calls and emails we learned of the one house for sale in Haviland.  Yep, one.  So trusting that God knew exactly what He was doing we went for it.  It wasn't exactly the ideal house (for me at least)...it had lime green carpet, blue coutertops, carpet in the kitchen and bathroom, and 4 barns/sheds FULL of stuff.  Now to me that sounds like a lot of long hours and dirty work to get it cute.  To my husband on the other hand it sounded like way too much fun.  Once he knew it came with 2.2 acres, he was sold.  I have warmed up quite a bit.  It is now the end of November and we have put pretty much all of our extra time and money into making the house comfy and cute.  There is still a lot to be done and I am going to post projects we have completed and projects we are working on for your enjoyment.  Hope you enjoy!
